Alfie Boe Performs Art Ulster Orchestra

Award-winning British tenor Alfie Boe will be performing with the Ulster Orchestra at the Waterfront Hall on May 15th. Alfie Boe is in possession of one of the finest tenor voices to come out of the UK for many years, according to Classic FM.
He studied at the Royal College of Music, the National Opera Studio and then with the Royal Opera House Young Artists’ Programme. Whilst doing his apprenticeship as a mechanic in the north of England, Boe took the brave move of leaving his job and pursuing his dream to star in Baz Luhrmann’s controversial Broadway production of La Boheme.

Alfie was strongly advised not to take the role. He considered the advice but really wanted to take the part. He took a leap of faith with Luhrmann and was rewarded with a Tony Award for his performance. His sheer talent and hard work has taken him on an incredible and successful journey in the classical arena.

With his voice and beguiling charm Alfie Boe is becoming a household name – helped by last month’s starring role in Jonathan Miller’s acclaimed new production of La Boheme at London’s Coliseum which was televised live by Sky Arts.

The May 15th concert, sponsored by First Trust Bank, will feature a beautiful range of music from traditional folk songs to operatic arias. The programme includes James Molloy’s Kerry Dance, Tchaikovsky’s Lensky’s Aria from Eugene Onegin and Donizetti’s Una furtiva lagrima from L’elisir d’amore. — www.ulster-orchestra.org.uk
