I am a dedicated fan of Les Mis, a convert via my husband who loves musicals and has passed this on! But his love of Les Miserable s our constantly watching the Th Anniversary DVD with Michael Ball and Colm Wilkinson, and Philip Quest singing `Stars`which we love – then again in Les Mis how can you choose a favourite song?! Then I saw tickets for the 25the Anniversary Show and I was determined we should see this, for our anniversary, for an early birthday surprise for my husband, and a joint early Xmas present – Any Excuse!!! I planned it without my husbands knowledge – train from Sheffield, evening Tickets at a breathtaking cost (well for us !) and 2 nights at a Radisson Hotel really close by.
We did not know many of the cast beforehand- and I only told my husband we were going with time enought to book time off work and he was stunned at my deceit! . Alfie Boe was not familiar. He is now! It was Amazing! The whole show – my God…I had been on tenterhooks because this show is Musical my husband loves – I looked at his face and he was almost in tears when Alfie Boe sang. But it was all lovely. If I try to convey how thrilled I was with this show I will be on this screen for hours, the two fantastic girls who began with and moved on from Nancy on BBC1 were amazing – and Norm Lewis as Javert – which to me was imporatnt as I LOVE his character and Stars is so strong and meaningful….! But as I said I will stop now and tell you the best bit! My husband and I went to eat after the Musical – and were unlucky in the amount of time we had to wait to eat so we could not get a taxi back to the Radisson. My husband went to enquire at the taxi Rank which was near the exit from the O2 – to a nightclub. I was hanging around waiting for him and I turned and saw ALFIE BOE !! But to be sensible he was with a beautiful lady who I presume is his wife and he was talking to an older gent, his wife and their younger son. I was in a little bubble of Northern Naivety where I had just seen the man who had so thrilled me in this show but I daren`t say anything! Me – a 42 year old! When my hubby turned I said `Mick – it`s Alfie Boe!! – you missed him!!!!` and cried out how I had not had the courage to speak while he was speaking. and I hadn`t asked for his autograph either !!!!! He asked – did you have a pen and paper? Nope! Camera? Nope! He always makes me feel better!!!! Oh God I was ” this close ” to Alfie Boe who I`d just watched in Les Miserables and never even dare aske for an autograph…

Does anything get more awesome!!!!
And my husband who has never ever been into musicals is now as obsessed as me, well almost!!
The entire cast were wonderful, esp Alfie who again was new to me, now I am a massive fan, and it takes someone good for me to match them to Michael Ball.
Thank you thank you thank you, this was 3 of the best hours ever for me, and that was the dvd, wasn’t fortunate enough to see it live!
