Alfie Boe Takes to the Stage with Shure KSM9 and UHF-R Wireless system
Superstar tenor chooses Shure microphone for forthcoming roster of live engagements: “it sounds glorious!”
For many, Alfie Boe is already a household name, but his recent headlining performance at the Classic BRIT Awards is set to raise the award-winning tenor’s stock even further.
Alfie’s performance – singing a medley of hits from the smash West End musical Les Miserables – was undoubtedly the highlight of the star-studded event, which was hosted for the fourth time by Pop-Classical sensation Mylene Klass.
Those not lucky enough to see Alfie raise the roof in the West End, at English National Opera, The Royal
Opera House or any number of other singing engagements worldwide, can enjoy this acclaimed tenor on
a number of chart-topping CDs, including his current Top 10 album “Bring Him Home”, which is certified
“Gold” and has already sold in excess of 200,000 copies in The UK alone.
But many associate Alfie with Les Miserables, especially after his 2010 success where he took the lead role of Jean Valjean in the sold-out 25th anniversary performances of the show at London’s O2 Arena. Such was the phenomenal success of those performances that Alfie has been hand-picked by Sir Cameron Mackintosh to reprise this role in the West End, for a five month run, beginning this June 23rd. The rest of 2011 shows no sign of slowing up for Alfie, with a number of major TV Shows coming up plus he will be picking up a coveted Silver Clef award in London this summer. After finishing the Les Mis run in November, his own sell-out Tour of The UK, The “Bring Him Home Tour” runs from Dec 6th through to Feb 4th.
With all of these high-profile engagements coming up, Alfie’s no doubt pleased that he’s just upped the
stakes when it comes to reliability and sound quality by switching to Shure’s renowned KSM9 – a premium
vocal condenser mic that captures vocal subtlety with extraordinary detail.
“As a singer, I needed a microphone that is true to my voice and I am delighted to have found the Shure
KSM9,” reveals Alfie. “It sounds glorious”
And to ensure perfect delivery of his unmistakeable vocals, Alfie will be relying on Shure’s peerless UHFR
Wireless technology.
“With a singer who possesses the most incredible voice that Alfie Boe does, we had to find a microphone
with good top-end clarity, a microphone that truly captures and reproduces his wonderful vocal,” said Neil
Ferris, Alfie’s manager. “And with the Shure KSM9 we have absolutely found the right microphone”.
Shure Distribution’s Paul Crognale said, “We feel that the KSM9 and UHF-R is the perfect microphone
system for the most demanding of live performers. The fact that Alfie Boe has decided to switch to this
incredibly detailed microphone bears testament to its sound quality and reliability. And with Shure’s tried
and trusted UHF-R wireless system in place we’re every bit as confident as Alfie that he’ll deliver perfect
vocals every time!”

I’d say that company is lucky to have Alfie. A real feather in their cap.
