  • This is good news for those going to tonight’s performance. I hope that it’s a good one and that Alfie does his usual mastering of the Jean Valjean role. I also hope that he paces himself on and off the stage. He’s a great vocalist and as most of us know – health is of the utmost importance to singers (especially around the tonsils, throat, vocal chords).

    Break a leg Jean Valjean!

  • Sincerely hope you are not putting pressure on yourself to return too quickly. Your health and well being is the wish of all those who respect you. Did you get Sarah’s permission to go back to work?

  • Good news, Neil, thanks for letting us know. Alfie, please take care.

  • Very pleased to hear you are feeling better, just hope it’s not too soon. You’re a sensible man though, and we all have to trust your judgement!

  • Alfie I hope that you are completely well again. If you feel the least bit strain tonight please take more time. We don’t want to see you cause yourself any harm. Time may wait for no man but friends and loved ones do. Praying that God gives you strength for tonight’s performance and also wisdom to know if you are pushing yourself too much and grace to give yourself more time if needed. Bless you! xx

  • Dear Alfie,

  • Dear Alfie,
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Hopefully you are not going back to Les Mis to early.
Really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow evening. Can’t wait. If you decide to take extra time because you feel it is to early for you to return we will all understand. You must come first Alfie.
God bless you for tonight’s show and onwards.

  • So glad you are feeling better Alfie, but please make sure you are fully recovered. We can’t have you damaging that wonderful voice. If you need someone to rub Vick on your chest, just shout!!! xxx Just off to order some more of your CDs – I’ve never really been into opera before but your voice just melts my heart.

  • Thanks Neil,
Great to know he is feeling better, sure everything will be uphill from here for Alfie and the team.
Happy for you Alfie. God Bless you and God Bless you Neil. Appreciate you keeping us all updated.
    Blessings, Elaine.

  • Alfie – It’s 7 p.m. here in Chicago so obviously your performance for 7/21 has already happened. I hope you’re truly recovered and feeling strong again. Your fans are all so devoted to you; we would wait for you as long as you need. A physically demanding role requires all the strength you have each and every day – especially on the days when you have 2 performances. Take good care of yourself Alfie – you deserve it. Good night and God bless!

  • Dear Alfie,

We had the good fortune of sitting in the middle of the stalls 10 rows back from the stage on Saturday night, and would never have known you had been ill so recently. Thank you, (And all the cast and crew.) for the most wonderfully moving musical I have aver seen……you were amazing.

    Best regards and stay healthy.

    Lizzie and Mike

  • Glad you are feeling better, however if you have to have more time off, the show is in good hands. I was to attend on the 20th really disappointed that you were not to perform, but what a show, Jonathan has an amazing voice, the entire cast were magnificent. Please be well for Blackpool in December .

  • You have helped me convert my husband to the magic of musical theatre after seeing the O2 Anniversary Concert at the cinema. We have just returned home from seeing Les Mis on 23rd July (so thankful that you had recovered enough to perform) and are still re-living the dream in our heads! You, Matt and the whole cast were fantastic. Take good care of yourself. Our demand for you is great but your health and family needs are greater. God Bless and good luck for your tour, Kate.

  • Hi Alfie, We’re coming to see you on Saturday afternoon (30th) and I can’t wait. It’s been soooo long since I saw you at Cheltenham Music Festival last year ( I was in the front row!). This trip has been much anticipated by me since I had the tickets for my birthday in March. Sending you best wishes with all my heart!!
Can’t wait, see you Saturday! Love Laura xxx

  • Hi Alfie,
I came to see you on Friday 22nd July with my niece. The show was brilliant and you sang brilliantly considering you had a throat infection.
We waited to get your autograph in the pouring rain but you had to go before you got to us down at the bottom of the queue. You did give us a lovely smile and a wave.
Keep up the good work. Fantastic as always.
My niece did get a photo of herself and Matt Lucas. I had to take the picture twice because the phone wouldn’t work (probably because of the weather).
I think my niece is now converted She didn’t know what to expect but she was cheering and clapping and also gave a standing ovation, along with us all.
Hope to see you again soon.

    best wishes
    Debbie xx

  • I went to see you yesterday at the matinee performance with my mum, auntie, uncle and nan and we all thought you were incredible . When you sang Bring Him Home, it sent shivers down all of our spines and by the end we were all standing and crying. You have an amazing voice.
