Alfie not appearing in Les Mis 27th August 2011
As you know Alfie had to miss todays Les Mis matinee performance and unfortunately will have to continue to rest and miss this evenings performance as well. (Sat 27th August 2011). Alfie never wants to let any of his fans down and is devastated, but he is only human and all singers suffer with their voices when there are virus germs around.
He wants everyone to know how sorry he is but hopes you enjoy the show and hopefully after a rest over the next couple of days he will be back fit and well on Tuesday.

Really hope Alfie is feeling better – my little boy has been counting the days until he can see his hero in the flesh, and he’s going to be so disappointed if he doesn’t get to see him tonight! He’s had me checking for news online every five minutes since early this morning! (He even mentioned Alfie’s throat in his prayers last night!) So here’s hoping Alfie is back on form by tonight – Charlie can’t wait to see him!
I was also so disapointed not to see Alfie on 27th August, The weekend was a belated Christmas present from my other half and I was so thrilled that we had seats only 4 rows from the front. For me this would have been the only opportunity to see both Alfie and Matt together. Whilst I appreciate Alfie was unwell and wish him a speedy recovery the trip down from the North East was marred by his absence.
My thanks and appreciation to Matt Lucas who gave a sterling performance, so witty with perfect timing to his ‘ab libs’ .
Jeff loves you and wants you to rest your lovely larynx
It’s a professional hazard singers are always faced with. Alfie, get well soon!
@ Angie … I believe nobody has a problem with fans expressing opinions and disappointment and I understand how devastating missing such a marvelous performer can be. It has happened to me before. However, I can understand why other fans reacted to it the way they did. It was inappropriate, disrespectful and somewhat rude. And it was a personal reflection on Alfie’s commitment to his fans.
And instead of jumping at each others’ throats – how about we thank Alfie for his brilliant contribution to the world of music and wish him many more successful returns to the stage instead.
I cannot help but wonder how she would feel if she walked this mile in his shoes.
Let’s be respective of each others feelings, we’re all human after all, aren’t we
We were lucky enough to see Alfie 24 June, we had front row seats and couldn’t take our eyes off JVJ. It was as though you were singing only to us, which of course you were! By the end of the performance we had cried laughed cried again and had thoroughly enjoyed the Les Mis expereinece.Thought Matt Lucas was fab, as though the role had been written for him. It was the 8th time I had seen the show live & I have to say it was the best production ever, each time I’ve seen the show whether live or on dvd I see something different, can’t wait to see it again…….hopefully.
take care Alfie, your voice is your livelihood and you have to take care of it. God bless you & keep you. lots of love from two of your biggest fans xx
I saw Les Mis last night (August 31st) and it was absolutely breathtaking! Thanks to all the cast for a fabulous evening, to Matt and ‘wife’ for the laughs and to Alfie for bringing us to tears with the passion in his voice. I’ll be coming back before the end of Alfie’s run, and getting tickets for his tour!

Very sorry not to see Alfie last night (1st Sep). Still enjoyed the show, but looks like we’ll have to come again when he’s better, if we can afford more tickets!
I went to see Les Miz yesterday (01.09.2011) And Alfie was poorly again. Was gutted, second time I’ve missed him due to illness
However, I just made up for it by watching the 25th anniversary on DVD again!!
Alfie you are amazing – get well soon xxxxx
Went to see Les Mis last Thursday and missed Alfie he managed Tue n Wed but then didn’t do Thursday. Don’t get your hopes up if u want to see him as he only seems to manage 2 shows a week. Although he wasn’t on the show was great.
We met Alfie on wednesday. What a lovely person. He took the time to talk to my son Ryan who is hoping for a career in theatre. Take the time to get properly well as the consequences can last so long from a throat infection.
Please feel better soon my friend. Still praying…
Barb xx
Hoping you are better Alfie, we are coming to see Les Mis this Tuesday!
Alfie, hope you feel better soon. I work at PBS and enjoyed your performance in the les Miz 25th. I hope to see you someday live. Bob
Absolutely stunning performances both the matinee and evening on Saturday 3rd September. I have seen a lot of performances but these outshone all of them. Congratulations to you and all the cast.

Watched the show on saturday night and I need to say I was left breathless at Alfies performance. I lierally at times could neither breath in or out . . . I was in awe! Have always loved his voice and have always been a fan, but to see him live in Les Miz was simply magnificent. It was the best Birthday gift to see and hear Alfie perform. It moved me so much that I could not talk about the show without crying. Thank you !!!!!!!
Saw you on Saturday night at Les Mis. What a great evening we had. Thank you!
My daughter and I saw the show on Thursday 8th. The whole company was magnificent, we laughed, we cried and we could not speak to each other over our interval whisky and coke. Never ever before have we been silent over a whisky and coke! Les Mis was pure magic of which I feel sure I will never see the like again. Thanks Alfie, Matt and everyone involved!
