  • I’m not really surprised, you have such a tough schedule. Hope you feel back up to speed really soon. Saw you in Les Mis on Saturday and you were truly wonderful but now I don’t know how you keep it up. Such a hard worker, take care. xxx

  • Hi Alfie. I”m getting worried about you! With all that you do and all your performances and such, please take some time for you. I don’t want to find out that you can no longer sing, I’d be so sad! I hope that things can slow down for you soon. Please take care of you! hugs and prayers being sent your way!

  • We knew you did not take the needed time to recuperate. You are so concerned about not disappointing your audience that you are willing to sacrifice your health?
Have the people who care about you not made it abundantly clear; you are so much more important than the role you play. It is a joy to hear you sing but, it is a necessity that you take care of yourself. Take all the time you need. We will be here when you return completely healthy. Keeping you in my prayers

  • DEAR ALFIE

PLEASE GET WELL REALLY SOON FOR ALL YOUR FANS WHO HAVE COME TO SEE YOU IN THE SHOW. IT WAS SO NICE TO MEET YOU AT THE STAGE DOOR ON FRIDAY 22ND JULY 2011 AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE LES MIS.

  • Get yourself well soon! Sending love as always! xx

  • So very sorry to hear this news. I’d suggest it is time to reduce the number of performances a week. It is such a demanding role and with your ongoing health problem it is proving too much.
    Your voice must come first.
Please take care. We will miss you tonight, but your wellbeing is paramount to you your family and your fans.

  • So sorry to hear you’re not well. We’ll miss you, but please take care of yourself and feel better soon.

  • Oh, Alfie, still not well? Please take the time to recuperate properly! We love you :)

  • Dear Alfie,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re under the weather again. Please do take all the time you need to recover fully. Best wishes always.

    Kim

  • Please rest Alfie – I know what it is like to keep going when really you should just stop and rest (it’s called being stubborn adn I’m one of the worst) – in the long run it doesn’t help or work out – so stay at home, put your feet up and get better properly

    Much love x xx

  • I’m so sorry to hear you are unwell. Please, take all the time necessary to beat this bug. Your health is much more important than the show right now. xx

  • Alfie please take the time you need to get well – you are obviously not getting enough rest to help you recuperate.
Our love and thoughts and with you x

  • Get well soon Alfie.
Saw you on Sat as JVJ and you were outstanding!
    Sending you lots of love!

  • Alfie, Alfie, Alfie, haven’t we had this conversation before?? You have to listen to your body and what is it saying……….I NEED REST!!!!!! Please take all the time you need to rest your vocal cords and yourself. We know that you don’t want to disappoint your fans and therefore you try to come back as soon as possible, but we all love you to pieces and just want the very best for you and that includes your good health!! There are some who will grumble, but that’s okay, every family has a few of those, but we all support you and love you and want you to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! If that means you have to slow down, then sobeit Buster………you have a precious gift to protect and take care of! Ok, I’m stepping off the soap box, but I truly am concerned and just want the very best for you! So please take care and remember we love you and will be right here waiting……we’re not going anywhere so don’t rush back too soon!!!!! xxx

  • Alfie please listen to everyone. make sure you have a good break this time, dont try and come back too soon else you will just feel worse and worse each time. I have a bad throat at the moment thats so far lasted me 9 days and I dont even sing! (well apart from singing along to your album the other day whilst cleaning!) so I know it takes a while for things to settle down. Please look after yourself.
    Love to you xx

  • Dear dear Alfie,
Would you please please please (don’t know how many times we have to say please) take all the time you need to get over this bug for a 100% Starting to soon over and over again can only do you harm.
Sending healing thoughts and lots of love your way.
From out Amsterdam a big hug

  • Hi Alfie :(
Niel is working you too hard I suppose! I saw you June 25th (yes one of the lucky ones) but following you in the media…..I can say again that you do too much – I know why….you care so deeply about your fans and friends and colleagues, but you have to put YOU first! I care about Alfie the person because you seem to be a rare person in your industry, so get well and take it easy. xo

  • I concur with all the above messages and would like to send you my best wishes for a full recovery. (No going back too soon) My understanding is that Opera singers don’t normally do 6 performances per week and a brilliant Operatic Voice like yours is clearly suffering.

Please take care and I look forward to hearing you are fully fit all in good time.

    Hugs and Love Annxx

  • Alfie so sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well. You have to slow down and get your body mind and soul back in top shape. LISTEN TO YOUR WIFE and all your thousands of mothers and take care of yourself! Take time to cool down, dry off and rest just a moment before SD and put large container of Purell at all the doors! Your beautiful voice is a gift from God to you and we all appreciate so your sharing it with us and the world and it is so precious you must protect and preserve it. We all love you and will be right here cheering you on now and when you are strong and healthy. I know you feel you must strike when the iron is hot, but it isn’t going to cool down anytime soon for your star. Take care, rest as much as possible, and take in all the love that is being sent your way. Much love and prayers for you. Xx

  • We love you. Take care. ‘nough said.

    Elisabeth

  • Alfie, I can’t add anything to what has already been said except to say I send “A Heart Full of Love” to you. Please take care and get well, all in good time. XXX

  • Alife, you have a lot on your shoulders! This is a good time for you to rest being you only have a short week this week and then the 20th off again. I do wish you God’s speed and a healthy recovery as well. You are human can do only what you can. I think that the Setting like at the O2 would be less strenuous on you voice and body. We dont want to see you slave like this!!! If you could just do Les mis like the O2 everybody would be okay with that…I for one would love for you to stand middle stage and do BHH not sitting on some bench!!! Please ask them to cut the acting back a bit and just you and the cast take a break and just SING!!! Love to you …feel better♥ Anne Morgan

  • Take all the time you need to fully recover. Don’t rush back too soon. We know you don’t want to disappoint your fans but we’re not going anywhere. Maybe you should consider taking Tuesdays off. That would give you 3 days to rest your voice. In one of your interiews, you said you rest your voice 2 days a week. With the demands of Les Miz, maybe you should rest your voice for 3 days. It’s obvious you love to sing (and we love to hear you) and it’s obvious you hate to disappoint your fans. Your fans will never be disappointed. We just want you to do what is best for Alfie. Don’t worry about your fans. You’ve made us feel like we know you personally and we want the best for our friend. Take care of yourself! Best wishes and much love!! xxx
    Phyllis

  • Alfie, how many people have to say you are doing too much before you listen? I have been concerned about your schedule for a long time now, you seem to be every where and Les Mis is such a demanding show! You have hundreds of fans who love you and want you well, please, please take care, we will love you for a life time, we won’t go away if you rest up for a while!

  • Hey, Alfie, trying to say this in every venue, in every fashion: Please take the time to take are of you. All that matters in this equation is your health and well-being.

I’ve said before, and will say again, if, for some reason, you chose to never perform, again, I would still cherish you, my friend. For Alfie Boe is not Jean Valjean. You are a unique, lovely, loving human being who is cherished.

So you need to protect your health for the sake of your family, your future and your own peace of mind. Those who love and care for you as a person will wait. If it takes days, weeks, whatever. You’re not a voice, you’re a human being and you are allowed to heal. Please remember that, without guilt or regret.

Rest, recuperate, get well, and know you are loved.

  • Know that you are loved, and with that love comes caring. Be well sir. X

  • ALFIE!!! You need to rest and sort yourself out properly before you come back again. That voice is soo precious and like all the others have said above, you need to look after it! We all just want you back fit and well…whether it takes one day or 90!! Pleaseee pleaseee pleaseee dont come back too soon and cause yourself further discomfort and illness!!

Take care, with all the love in the world
    Erin xoxo

  • Alfie….Thinking of you and hope you are resting and relaxing. Claire said it so perfectly, so just want you to know we send our support and love as well!!

  • Your voice is your work so you must do what you must to care for it. Take your time to soothe your vocal chords. You along with all the cast have a heavy schedule, and as JVJ is the biggest singing part it takes its toll, but all parts are difficult if singing night after night, along with matinees added to that. Like I say to my kids, “That’s life, that’s the way it is.” Bless you hope you don’t stress out about it too much.

  • Hi, Alfie. Hate to hear that you’re sick. Sure hope you get better soon. Don’t worry about disappointing your fans. Everyone understands. Please take care of yourself. <3 xxx Pam

    Alfie. Xxx

  • We where so sad you where unwell or the 2nd August it was our birthday treat. We had waited so long to see you. We hope you feel better soon. X

  • Prepare for a telling off, Alfie! Iam old enough to be your mother ( unfortunately! ), so like the polite boy you are, just listen! Some people on the forums seem to think you are some supernatural being sent to comfort them, you and I know that’s not true. You are just a little northern man, with a serious work ethic ,an awesome voice and a huge heart that gets in the way of your head, sometimes. If you take a few nights out of Les Mis a few people will be disappointed, if you go back too soon, you will probably do more damage and have to be off again. You have to accept that you are just human! If you do yourself serious damage then many many people will be devastated.
You have made a huge commitment to Les Mis, better to miss a few now than be unable to complete the run, and wreck your health in the process. As many people have said, the true fans will still be there! Rest!!!

  • Hope you are feeling better! Please take some time off before your tour to get completely better. Your fans will still be waiting for you! We would rather you take the time off and be able to continue singing than something happen and we never get to hear you sing again.

  • You are so beloved, special & rare. Rest and recuperate knowing that the world is still yours and clearly not as fickle as the media would like us to believe. We will be here waiting for you. Rest your voice and let yourself breathe. Please don’t burn yourself out… You are one of the few genuine and generous artists we have in this day and age, and we love you.

  • Hi Alfie. Hoping you and Matt are back well rested and ready to wow West End attendees this weekend. xx

  • Loving the Onward CD by the way! Makes me arrive at work inspired for the day and at 5pm when I get into my car feeling rather flat, a good dose of the same allows me to feel refreshed in no time! xx

  • I went to see les Mis last night and can assure all that Alfie’s Voice is in tip top condition – he and the rest of the cast was sublime – It was my 4th and most definitely favourite performance to date! Utterly brilliant!

  • we are so glad alfies throat is better,im bringing my mom on the 26th aug to see the show.she is so excited.at the age of 86,and traveling down from brum,we are wandering ,is she alfies oldest fan?

  • Saw Les Mis on Wednesday night for the 3rd time. Alfie and the whole cast were brilliant and this performance was definitely my favourite……..so far! Great to meet Alfie, Matt and others at stage door after. All so friendly and genuine. Keep up the good work. PS. Any ideas why Cameron Mackintosh was in the audience?

  • Hi Alfie, saw you tonight on John Barrowmans, Tonights the Night,When you sing Bring him Home, it is so beautiful, the hairs on the back of my neck tingle and it makes me cry I so wish I could see you in Les Mis it is my favourite show, I think it connects to every emotion. Hope you are better soon. xx

  • I always thought Colm Wilkinson was the best Gene Val Gene but my god you take some beating I adore your voice and you.x

  • I have seen Les Mis many times but my husband & I came to London on the 30th July & saw the show with you & Matt, & we both are adamant that this is THE BEST version EVER!!! The emotion in the audience was incredible & I’ve never been to any show where there’s been such an amazing standing ovation & so much love in the air.
Since coming home we’ve watched the 25th Anniv DVD again & I was once more in floods of tears.
You’re wonderful Alfie, & now I’m so excited as I have tickets to see your show in Liverpool in Dec.
I was saddened to hear that you’ve been unwell, but like all the other posts here, I urge you to look after that wonderful voice & take as much rest as you need to get it better.
I gather Cameron is making a film of Les Mis….what’s the chances of you & Matt being in it?……absolutely the best Jean Valjean & Thenardier!
    Much love xx

  • I want to reiterate what Marion’s said above. I brought my mum to see you on 18 August – we’ve both seen Les Mis twice before and only came to see it again because you, and Matt, were in it. We were blown away by the whole performance. I think it’s the first time I’ve watched a musical/show where every single cast member had amazing voices and did the roles proud. However, having you as Valjean really put the cherry on the cake. I’m now a huge fan and hope to see you in concert on your tour. It’s amazing how much a person’s voice can move me but I had goose bumps all the way through the performance.
Take care of yourself and I really hope to see you performing live again soon.

  • saw les mis on friday 5th aug what a fabulous night, the whole cast were amazing, but alfie and matt stole the show.
