The Proms are what it’s all about for Alfie

Britain’s favourite tenor Alfie Boe comes straight from the West End to Dundee this weekend to headline the Scottish finale to this year’s BBC Proms.

He will join the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in a spectacular event broadcast live from the Caird Hall, Dundee this Saturday.

Conducted by Stephen Bell, the Scottish Symphony Orchestra will lead this feast of music, introduced by Radio Scotland’s Kaye Adams and Jamie MacDougall.

  • Hope it all goes well Alfie – what a treat for the good people of Scotland – hoping to see you on the BBC red button.

Don’t overdo it though – coming to see you in LM on Wednesday so hoping you will be fit and well that night!

  • Is there any way to know whether or not those of us in the US will be able to see this?… Whether by TV or over the internet? Is it customary for the last night of the Proms to be available on “pay for view” or on the BBC channel in the States? If anybody has the answer to this, many of us in the States would LOVE to know!

  • Marilyn this is not The Last Night of the Proms, that takes place in the Albert Hall in London. I haven’t seen anything in our tv listings pages about this concert so doubt it will be on tv, but someone else may know better than me.

  • Thank you, Lynn, for the info. I was just “wishing” for a chance to see/hear Alfie. Hopefully someone how is able to attend will put Alfie’s part on utube for us in the States to see!

  • When looking online to BBC Radio, I found quite a spread about the show in Scotland…In your state, check with your local FM station to find which they carry..might be BBC Radio 1,2, 3…..; usually in the low 90′s FM…those lucky to receive BBC TV channel here in the US, check station programming…..and don’t forget ..Time Zones!…..”.And so, dear Watson, the games afoot!!”

  • Very much lokking forward to this event which I am attending with my husband.

  • Thanks Marybeth for your info. We do get BBC TV, so I’ll check them as well as BBC Radio. I appreciate the info so much…maybe I’ll get to hear/see Alfie after all! I’m going to try to get an email address for BBC TV & do some checking that way also!

  • it is played on bbc 2 scotland from 7.30 but the full show will be on iplayer for those not in scotland :D

  • I’m sure I heard somewhere that it was going to be on the bbc red button. Hope I heard right!!

  • The show’s live on tv on BBC2 Scotland at 7.30pm, and is available on the red button elsewhere. It will also show on BBC Four next Friday, I believe. Hope you get to see it.

  • On the red button tonight they are showing the four other last nights of the proms from all around the uk. Also next friday night on bbc4 they are showing highlights.

  • Just watching it on BBC2 scotland, too many empty seats!!!! what are they thinking of. If I had known we would have driven down from Inverness – exiled Fleetwood girl in Inverness!

  • I have just found a listing on BBC Four on Friday at 7.30pm which says its showing the Scottish Last Night Celebrations… anyone who can get it might want to give it a try – otherwise, would it not be online on BBC iplayer?

  • Watched BBC Proms Dundee by the red button Alfie fanastic as always but WOW ! Loved THE First time i saw your Face , hope it is on the New Album. Carole N
