It was a wonderful concert, I agree with ChrisK. Apart from Alfie's fantastic singing, I thought the orchestra did incredibly well considering there were so few of them - they sounded superb especially combined with Alfie's wonderful tenor voice.
I loved all of the songs he sang, which he did with great feeling and emotion - and even a few little dance moves on occasion (do I hear Strictly Come Dancing calling?!! Smile ) I loved that he sang E Lucevan Le Stelle as this is one of my favourites and I always enjoy his performance of it.
I also loved his interaction with the audience, ChrisK ,if you were sat next to the guy with the blue shirt that kept yawning - then we weren't that far away as we were in the row with the youngest member of audience. Alfie saw a little girl in our row who couldn't have been more than 6yrs old and pointed her out saying he thought it was wonderful that she had been brought to the concert and that he hoped more people would introduce children to this sort of music.
We got to say hello to him afterwards and have a quick chat. Lyndsey & I were there with 2 other friends and they were delighted to meet them too. One of them had been at the Remembrance Festival at the Royal Albert Hall last year as she is a war widow. She told Alfie that she had met him briefly afterwards but had thought he was part of the chorus. They both laughed at this and she said how she had loved his performance of Bring Him Home that night and how she had really enjoyed him singing in his own concert tonight. He joked and said he'd come a long way since his part in the chorus last year - it was so funny! Smile
It was also touching to see him meet the little girl he had pointed out during the concert. Minutes earlier he had been laughing and joking with us and then he saw the little girl come up and he knelt down on the floor to speak to her. He asked if she had enjoyed the show and she said yes, so he said, "what was your favourite bit" and she replied "the parts with you singing!!" it was such a lovely moment. I think the little girl brought up all her family to meet Alfie after that and he gave her a hug and thanked her for coming.
I thought it was lovely to see Alfie greeting his fans (old and new) afterwards. It is little moments like this that show not just how great a performer he is but what a genuinely friendly guy he is too. I think it's wonderful that he remembers and recognises his fans and makes time for them after his concerts. He is a true star in every sense.
I shall be looking out for tickets for La Boheme next year too as I'd love to see him in that.
Alfie did also mention during the concert that he will be appearing on the BBC2 show Maestro in two weeks time....appararently he will be conducted by Bradley Walsh - not sure if he was joking, but he said afterwards he will be on the show 2nd Sept.....will have to watch out for that too. Smile

Thank you for telling us all about the concert, enjoy reading every bit of it!
Sounds like La Boheme is going to be a very interesting productions if Alfie is growing out his hair and a beard.
